The world grows fast and is constantly changing so humans need to learn how to adapt to the narrow space available on earth. From makeshift homes to modern living spaces in crowded cities, we see a wide variety of homes and urban infrastructure projects, accrued due to the limited space around us.
Singapore is one of the biggest cities in Asia and it stands as a symbol for innovative ideas that allow people from all cultural and ethnical backgrounds to live together in peace and harmony. The city not only offers accommodation for the rich and powerful, but also for the poor and hard working people who enable living here at such a high standard. Over a short period of time a huge variety of buildings and spaces emerged in this enormous city. But what seems well planed and perfectly organized at the first glance also has its downsides.
This photographic series is a tribute and a portrait of a city, that obviously does not sleep and besides the flawlessly planned coexistence of all people holds challenges that need to be mastered day by day. A closer look sometimes reveals hidden secrets.

Die Welt ist einem steten und schnellen Wachstum unterworfen und wir Menschen haben gelernt, den nur begrenzt zur Verfügung stehend Platz möglichst effizient zu nutzen. Von provisorischen Unterkünften, bis hin zu modernen Wohnhäusern auf engstem Raum, stehen wir einer Vielfalt an Gebäuden und Infrastruktureinrichtungen gegenüber, die aus dieser Not entstanden sind.
Singapur ist eine der größten Metropolen im asiatischen Raum und steht symbolisch für innovative Ideen, die Menschen jeglicher Herkunft und aus allen Kulturkreisen ein friedliches und harmonisches Miteinander ermöglichen. Die Stadt bietet nicht nur Unterkünfte für reiche und mächtige, sondern auch für die armen und hart arbeitenden Menschen, die den hohen Lebensstandard in dieser Stadt überhaupt ermöglichen. So sind eine Vielfalt an Einrichtungen und Gebäuden entstanden, die ihres gleichen suchen. Aber was auf den ersten Blick gut geplant und perfekt organisiert erscheint, hat auch Schattenseiten.
